Targett Thor was written in 2016 as a finale for Gareth Trott's 4th year recital at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. The piece is fast and exciting, which displays the virtuosic nature of the instrument. The composition uses the name Gareth Trott for the rhythmical and melodic material of the piece by multiple means of processes; one being a rhythmical transcription of the morse code translation of the name.
